Lipo alternatives – Injection Lipolysis

Injection lipolysis is a lipoalternative in which drug mixtures are injected into patients to remove and melt the fat down.  Injection lipolysis is also known as Lipodissolve and mesotherapy.  Lipodissolve is less painful than mesotherapy, but both have side effects.  Lipodissolve is the newest procedure to be introduced here in the US, but it has been used for a long time in Europe.  Mesotherapy has more side effects than Lipodissolve does.

Lipodissolve:

Lipodissolve is a non-invasive procedure that is safer than liposuction and is an effective way to remove fat deposits and eliminate cellulite.  This wonderful lipoalternative is not only a great alternative to plastic surgery, but it is one of the only proven ways of eliminating the fat forever, since it completely destroys the fat cells.  It should be noted that it does eliminate the fat as long as the person does not gain the weight back again.  This can be handled by eating a healthy diet and exercising.

After the procedure there may be soreness, swelling, bruising and temporary lumps.  Many clinics will suggest the use of compression garments to keep the swelling down and prevent pain.  It usually takes around two months to see the end results of the treatments. Procedures similar to Lipodissolve include mesotherapy, lipolysis injection lipolysis and /or lipostabil. Some of these treatments are virtually identical to Lipodissolve. Like this procedure, many are not FDA-approved, but are legal and often very effective.

Mesotherapy:

Mesotherapy is more painful than Lipodissolve and due to many patients having a low threshold of pain, a non-needle mesotherapy was developed.  The original mesotherapy was developed 50 years ago in France and it has been used in Europe successfully.  Many patients were dropping out of the therapy due to the pain involved, so a no-needle method was developed recently.

This new technique is called Aquaphoesis.  It is a very low energy laser that is able to carry the medications into the tissue.  There are no needles, no bruising and no pain.  It is suggested that 15 sessions are necessary to complete the treatment or protocol.

With injection lipolysis there is an 80% complete success rate, 5% will have no fat reduction and 15% will have some fat reduction.  These procedures are not for everyone.  There has not been any documented deaths with these procedures, but an FDA warning has recently (April 7, 2010) resulted in warning letters being sent to six US based clinics and one in Brazil for making false and misleading statements on their websites.

It is important when considering liposuction alternatives like injection lipolysis to investigate both the doctor and the clinic thoroughly.  Consider the dangers involved with the procedures and in many cases take a second opinion.  The procedure is not covered by health insurance is it is considered to be cosmetic surgery.  Many clinics will offer some sort of financing arrangements though.
