Lipo Alternatives for Thigh Lifts

Thigh lifts or flankoplasty, as it is more commonly called, is one of the most popular forms of plastic surgery being requested today.  Thigh lifts are used for people who have lost a massive amount of weight and have folds of skin hanging.  This happens usually after the person has either bariatic or gastric bypass surgery.  It is a process of pulling up, tightening and contouring sagging skin.  The incision is usually hid below the belt line, to hide the unsightly scar.  The incision is permanent and for psychological and physical reasons the incision is hid in the panty area.

Normally the thigh lift is combined with an abdominoplasty and very rarely is it done as a single surgery.  Many will not have this surgery until absolutely necessary, as it is expensive to do and it takes a considerable amount of recovery time.    Some of the complications of these lipsuction surgeries are: Hematoma, infection, excess fluid build-up, wounds bursting open, widened scars, scar migration, sensory nerve damage, and Lymphedema (accumulation of lymphatic fluid). If at all possible, you should avoid all types of surgery and search for lipo alternatives.

It should be noted that the percentage of complications in this type of surgery is between 20-25% and the more obese the patient the higher the risk of complications.   The complications of the surgery should be weighed against the problems that come from excess folds of skin. The excess folds may cause the patient to have rashes and infections thus affecting the health of the patient.

Before undergoing such invasive surgeries, it is best to try natural methods such as exercise and diet.  These natural ways are both free and with out any side effects.  These methods should be done from the very beginning, not after a huge amount of weight loss.  One of the best lipo alternative methods to use to avoid surgery is the body wrap.  The body wrap will avoid lipo surgery, cost less and does not have the horrible side effects that surgery “will” cause.

Before deciding which procedure is best for you, consult with your physician or licensed health care professional.  Request referrals from the doctor you are considering and then weigh the pros and cons before a final decision is made.
